the have a very good running back number 20. if you can get your hands on him he'll go down but he's very quick and shifty. they are 70% run and 80% of that is to the tight end side. they have some very big lineman, 6'7 270 and 5'8 300. if our line stays low on those guys it won't be a problem. its gunna be nice going into district 5-1. go mustangs

by the way:our boy BJ made Big Country top ten
"7. B.J. Walker, RB/LB, Sr., Sweetwater — Burned Midland Greenwood with 112 yards rushing and three scores on just 12 carries in a 32-7 win in Friday’s Big Country Game of the Week. "

Then Tanner crain
"Tanner Crain, WR, Sr., Sweetwater (four catches for 102 yards vs. Greenwood"
And our offensive line
"Spencer Young, Dylon Adames, Josh Larue, Rance Stone, Malcolm Jackson, Sweetwater offensive line (pushed Midland Greenwood for 345 yards rushing);"

Made Big Country honorable Mention.
Keep it up boys.

haha alright shawn marrow beating me to the punch
thats pretty much what i had to say.

during film you can see that their linebackers play 5-6 yards
off of the ball so on occasions us linemen are going to have to make
good and full zone steps to get to them

i will be the guy going up aginst big number 72 the 6'7" d-tackle
but as i saw on film he likes to try to man handle his opponents
that wont be happening.

their offense do alot of motion in the backfield, so hopefully our linebackers
are good at thinking on their feet and able to realize what they
need to be doing after the motion is set, because they dont leave any time to
adjust.

we are going to have to know how to break down and make a tackle
because as shawn said their running back will go down but has speed to
make us miss.

all in all we expect a good game this friday but with our heart, strength, MUSTANG PRIDE, determination and the will to win we will yet again become victorious

MUSTANGS ALL THE WAY LETS DO THIS AND START 5-1 FOR DISTRICT
REMEMBER OUR GOAL MEN!!!!

i was kinda thinkin of a like chop block contest for the linemen

we kinda have a little one going on at practice coach williams
said the most chops made in a game is 10 and that title is held
right now by rance stone i almost go him, my most is 9 but yeah
i think that would be kinda kool cuz it always looks great when you get
a great chop block on someone else

just a thought..

being a lineman I feel what you're saying. but it's hard to get the blocks and follow the action.

If I only had one person who had a good camera (that saves in a semi to hi def avi format)who could record the trenches from an elevated position I could do alot of extra stuff just for you guys. I have always tried to get you extra pictures and pre / post game vids because it's so hard to get you in.

you guys keep me updated on who wins that contest every week and I will see if I can come up with something for it.

Stangs go for four in a row
Written by Ron Howell

http://www.sweetwaterreporter.com/content/view/279024/122/

For the last three weeks, this year’s Sweetwater football team has done a good job of putting last year’s 1-9 debacle further and further in the rear view mirror.
In that time, the 4-1 Mus-tangs’ offense has scored a healthy average of 30 points a game, while the team’s vastly improved defense has surrendered just 9.3 as the team has defeated Levelland, Early and Midland Greenwood.
Sweetwater has spread the wealth offensively as its 10 rushing touchdowns during the win streak have been scored by five different players, while the four touchdown passes have gone to four different receivers.
The offensive line has al-lowed Sweetwater to average 276 yards rushing and 138 yards passing over that three-week span.
And after having several breakdowns against Early, the special teams play was much improved in a 32-7 win over Midland Greenwood this past Friday.
The Mustangs host another Midland team — private school Midland Christian — at 7:30 this Friday.
And coach Craig Slaughter hopes his team avoids looking ahead to Abilene Wylie, which will be coming to Mustang Bowl the following week when Sweetwater finally begins its district season Oct. 8. “It’s a concern,” he said. “But I’m not worried too much about it after what a lot of these kids went through last year (with the 1-9 record).
“I thought Friday’s game was the best we’ve played so far. The defense continued to play very well and the offense moved the ball, and our special teams had a good night. I would love to go into district with us still on a winning streak and being healthy.”
Sweetwater will need to keep its game at a high level to defeat Midland Christian, which is 2-2 this season and almost pulled off a big upset last week against Big Spring before the Steers rallied in the second half to pull out a 34-30 victory. Big Spring reeled off 20 unanswered points to overcome a 30-14 halftime deficit. Midland Christian, also known as the Mustangs, rushed for 210 yards — including 125 by Christian Whigham and 74 by Tanner Dobbs — in its close loss to Big Spring.
“Those guys have a very solid run game, probably the best run game we’ve seen,” Slaughter said.
Up front, Midland Chris-tian is one of the biggest teams Sweetwater has faced so far, with four starters on the offensive line between 235 and 300 pounds. “It will look like a 3A offensive line,” Slaughter said.
Though they’ve never met in the regular season, the teams scrimmaged here last year and for several years before that.
Slaughter said he’s happy with the way the season has gone even though the biggest games are yet to come.
“Our goal was to get back to our winning ways and we’ve done that,” he said. “We just need to continue to play well this week.”

Sorry about having to slow down a little more towards the end. if I didn't I wouldn't have had enough to fit the song and it would have looked bad. Let me know what you think.

Malcolm Jackson of Sweetwater has been chosen as Football Player of the Week. The 5-10, 240-pound junior starts at left guard for this year’s team and also plays defensive tackle. He graded out at a very impressive 96 percent for his work on the offensive line in last Friday’s 34-7 loss to Midland Christian.
