Baugh, Welch make it for Sweetwater; several area players are on six-man list

The University Inter-scholastic League is cur-rently in the process of picking its all-century teams in several sports, and Nolan County is very well-represented.
Sweetwater is represented on the football team by Sammy Baugh at punter and Mike Welch at defensive back. Voting runs through Nov. 7. The girls basketball team has Mira Richburg of Roscoe and Christy Williams of Blackwell, with the boys’ basketball nominees to be announced this week.
The six-man all-century team has several familiar names from the county’s three small schools. The players are Jared Bowen, Terry Clark, Courtney Gothard, Loren Krejci, Karry Owens, Duane Hyde and Monte Richburg of Highland; Nathan Hayes, Courtney King and Ray Walls of Blackwell; and Thomas Hyde of Divide.Voting on the six-man team ends Nov. 23.
