HOMECOMING GAME BABY!!! GONNA HAVE A FULL HOUSE AND IT IS TIME ONCE AGAIN TO PLEASE OUR CROWD!!!!

ok so midland greenwood:
they run a 50-base defense, same look we had last week
but they like to shift over to the right or left. so as a guard
i will be looking at a two-tech most of the game.
i am told their two defense of tackles are kinda big
they average 5'8"-6'0" weight ranges from 210-250

they will have two linebackers their best one is #7 i believe
someone correct me if im mistaken

their offense... i dnt know too much about. all i know is that
we run somewhat of what they will run during team.
i have seen counter, screens, and they do a QB draw up the middle

thats all i myself know about greenwood. we are both 3-1
and we are ready to play. i know our team is as pumped as ever.
everyone has notice what we play like when we arnt pumped and
no one wants that again, that early game was a win but the Mustangs
wont be playing that that again.

TIME TO GO OUT THERE HITTIN THEM IN THE MOUTH EVERY PLAY
IN THE FIRST SERIES AND TAKE THE WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY AWAY FROM
THEM!!!!! LETS DO WORK MUSTANGS Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Sweetwater will enter district play with four wins

SWEETWATER — For Sweetwater, it was a close to a must-win as a nondistrict game can be.

Two weeks short of entering district play in one of Texas’ toughest 3A leagues, the Mustangs improved to 4-1 with a 32-7 rout of Midland Greenwood in the Big Country Game of the Week.

B.J. Walker rushed for 109 yards and three scores to lead Sweetwater (4-1), which amassed 479 yards in total offense, including 345 yards on the ground.

With the win, the Mustangs now are one win away from securing a .500 regular season record — a far cry from the 1-9 disappointment of 2009.

Greenwood, which was limited to 157 total yards, dropped to 3-2.

“The offensive line really did a great job tonight,” second-year Sweetwater coach Craig Slaughter said. “We’re using a little different blocking scheme than what they had before we got here and they’re definitely catching on.”

Leading 19-7 at the break, Sweetwater put the game away with a pair of second-half scores, the first of which came at the 8:07 mark of the third quarter when Sam Nemir scored from 5 yards out.

Two possessions later, the Mustangs led 32-7 after Walker bolted 32 yards for a score with 11:51 left in the game.

“We’re looking a lot more like our teams need to look — shortening the game, and making first downs,” Slaughter said. “In our district, we’ll have to control the clock and manage the game, and we’re sure getting better at it.”

Sweetwater dominated the bulk of the first half as well, sandwiching a 3-yard touchdown run by Taylor Jones with scoring runs of 1 and 3 yards by Walker, the last of which gave the Mustangs a 19-0 edge with 3:18 left in the half.

While pounding out 214 yards rushing in the first two quarters, Sweetwater produced 315 first-half yards — more than tripling Greenwood’s total of 101.

Held to one first down through the first 21 minutes of play, Greenwood finally countered with a scoring drive of its own, pushing 67 yards in 13 plays and capping the drive with a 1-yard quarterback sneak by Jesse Madrid with 24 seconds left until halftime.

“They whipped us up front a little bit,” Greenwood coach Shad Hanna said. “We were a little flat and didn’t execute very well offensively or defensively.”

Sweetwater will take its home field again Friday when it is host to Midland Christian; Greenwood will play host to Big Spring on the same evening.

“This was huge for us because at 4-1 we can walk a little taller,” Slaughter said. “It was a very clean, crisp game that we needed to win. If we keep taking care of the football we think we can compete in district and we’re definitely looking forward to the opp

Sweetwater wins third straight

Mustangs roll up 496 yards in victory over Greenwood Though it hasn’t always been pretty, this year’s Sweetwater football team is beginning to put up the kind of numbers they achieved on a regular basis when the Mustangs were making the playoffs almost every year between 1984 and 2009.
More importantly, Coach Craig Slaughter’s team is winning regularly.
Friday’s 32-7 romp over Midland Greenwood to celebrate homecoming was Sweetwater’s third straight and improved its record to 4-1 at the season’s midway point. That’s the exact opposite of Wylie (1-4), which comes here in two weeks for the District 5-3A opener.
The Mustangs had a season-high 496 yards offen-sively against Greenwood, the third time the team has exceeded 400 yards, while allowing just 175 including a season-low 35 yards rush-ing on 26 attempts. The offense had just one turnover and Sweetwater avoided special-team mistakes which hurt the Mustangs the previous week in a 12-7 win at Early.
In short, it was exactly the kind of confidence-building victory that Slaughter had hoped for to start a three-week homestand that con-tinues this Friday against Midland Christian.
“We looked much cleaner and crisper tonight,” he said after the game. “Our special team play was awesome and I thought that defensively we played very solid.”
Sweetwater didn’t let the rain or wet field keep it from a quick start as the team moved 57 yards in seven plays on its opening series, capped by B.J. Walker’s 1-yard scoring run.
The Mustangs then launched a 94-yard drive, with the vast majority of the yardage on a 79-yard run by Jarrell Houston. Sweetwater was able to overcome a 10-yard penalty that negated a touchdown, thanks to a fourth-down pass of 16 yards from Taylor Jones to Malcolm Black that put Sweetwater at the 1 with Jones scoring from there.
The defense continued to force three-and-outs, and Sweetwater recovered a fumble that led to a 3-yard TD run by Walker that made it 19-0 with 3:18 left in the first half following Connor Stafford’s extra point kick.
Held to just one first down at that point, Greenwood finally launched its only scoring drive of the night. The drive took 13 plays and culminated in a 1-yard run by quarterback Jesse Madrid with just 24 seconds left before halftime.
“We were concerned because we were in total control before that and then they got momentum,” Slaughter said. “But we took the second half kickoff and scored, and after that we put the game away.”
This time, it was fullback Sam Nemir scoring on a 5-yard run to increase the lead to 26-7, capping an eight-play drive that began at Sweetwater’s 32.
As the third quarter began to wind down, Sweetwater put together its final scoring drive. A 24-yard completion from Jones to Tanner Crain moved the ball to Green-wood’s 42 and Jones ran for seven yards to keep the chains moving at the Rangers’ 32. From there, Walker found a big hole and ran it in for the touchdown to start the fourth quarter.
Walker finished with 108 yards rushing, while Jones had 74 and Houston 98 in his best game of the year.
The passing game was also very solid Friday as Jones was 8-of-12 for 142 yards and no interceptions. Crain caught four passes for 98 yards to lead the way.
Nemir was also a force on defense as he had five tackles, four assists, one tackle for a loss, one sack and forced a fumble. Ryan Linebaugh recovered a fumble for the Mustangs’ only takeaway in the game.
